Arul Durai is an agriculturist with an eye of a writer and the heart of reformist. Hailing from Ponnackanery village in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu, he has led a bucolic lifestyle and has braved several issues of eking out a living in the rural milieu. Being the son of a farmer, he has witnessed water crisis in the villages from a close lens. A workaholic by nature, he strongly believes in capitalizing on every moment and making it peaceful and fruitful. Since long he has been led by the spirit to serve the needy. His debut as a writer with his pilot book, 'Thanneer Yaathirai' (Water March) in Tamil, was published by Vaigarai Publications. It captures the issues in procuring potable water across several underlying areas in Tamil Nadu. On the academic front, he is a qualified MSW, PGDC (Counseling) with an MBA. He is currently pursuing his PhD studies from Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu. He has monitored various developmental projects funded by international and national agencies. He claims to be a simpleton, who learns from his experience, which has been recorded in his book 'A Journey for Water'.
