The author Dr. Peter Dhawan writes this book in rememberence of his late father Dr. Deshbandhu Dhawan who was a Professor of Russian Language in the Department of Studies in Foreign Languages, Karnatak University, Dharwad. The author was awarded the Degree of Ph.D. in Russian Literature in the year 2010 from Shivaji University, Kolhapur which was the first Ph.D. Degree to be awarded in Foreign Languages from Shivaji University, Kolhapur. After the demise of the author’s father in 1999, since 2004 out of interest the author took up teaching work at Karnatak University, Dharwad engaging Russian language classes since the year 2004. He has published many research articles in Russian and has prepared course materials specially designed for the people of Karnataka origin. Another book is under publication by Karnatak University, Dharwad which helps the students of Russian part-time courses in Indian Universities to learn the language and grammar though jokes and conversation. I am sure the life and literary aspects of Ivan Alekseivich Bunin will help the young students/researchers in Russian Literature to enhance and impart the rich literary dimensions of Russia. The author mainly thanks his mother Mrs. M. Dhawan and his sister Mrs. Shaila Markina for their great help and support. The author also thanks his Ph.D. guide Dr N. K. Buwa who was a Professor of Russian in the Dept. of Foreign Languages, Shivaji University Kolhapur for helping and giving courage all the way in preparing the book. And finally, special thanks go to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and author’s colleagues of Karnatak University, Dharwad for their kind support and moral help.
