Dr. Suresh Kumar. C was born on 3 April 1962 at Kazhakuttom in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He received his M.A. Degree in Economics in 1984 from the Department of Economics, Kariavattom, University of Kerala and thereafter B.Ed, L.LB, and Ph.D degrees all from the University of Kerala. He started his career as Research Officer in 1988 and hold many posts in different Government Departments as Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Joint Director and Additional Director. During his career, he got the opportunity to work as Associate Fellow in the Institute of Management in Government (IMG), Government of Kerala for eight years. He is one of the Evaluators of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and till this time he has evaluated two Doctoral Thesis. His research interests lie in the area of Tribal issues. The first digital report on "An Assessment of Resource Base And Socio-Economic Profile of Tribal Settlements in Wildlife Sanctuaries In Kerala - A case Study in Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary", published in 2005 was one of the notable works initiated by him. At present he is serving as the Director, Survey Design Research and Training in the Department of Economics and Statistics, Government of Kerala. The Government of Kerala entrusted him the task of establishing the State Academy on Statistical Administration (SASA) which was formed to research and training and then he has been appointed as the founding Director. Later he was given additional charge of the Head of Cell of Kerala State Statistical Commission (KSSC). He has an experience of about 30 years in Government Service in various capacities.
